We have an exciting opportunity in our lab for a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher to support the international project "Cognitive Training Across the Lifespan: A Diffusion Modelling Approach" funded by the ESRC via the 6th Open Research Area Call (ORA). The project is led by Claudia von Bastian in collaboration with Tilo Strobach (Medical School Hamburg, Germany) and Sylvie Belleville (Université de Montréal, Canada). The position will be based at the University of Sheffield.
The goal of this 3-years project is to identify the cognitive processes affected by training tasks with varying attentional control demands across the adult lifespan. Combining diffusion modelling with latent-variable approaches, you will examine how the attentional control demands of the training intervention may affect training-induced changes in the ability to extract and accumulate information from the environment (i.e., the drift rate), and how variance in this change relates to potential changes in working memory, inhibitory control, reasoning, and everyday cognitive functioning.
In this role, you will contribute to the study design and implementation, organisation and oversight of data collection, data analysis, dissemination of findings, and project coordination. The project will also include research visits to the project partners in Germany and Canada and attendance at international conferences.
The position will be fixed-term until 31 January 2024, with a proposed start date on 1 February 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.
